Costel Pantilimon says he and his teammates will treat their FA Cup quarter-final tie with Barnsley like a final.
“We’ve had very good results so far and we have not conceded any goals, but the whole team deserve praise for this, because it’s not only me, it’s everyone,” Pantilimon said.
“We work together and the most important thing is the team result.”
The Romanian, who initially joined the Blues on loan just a few months after the famous victory over Stoke in 2011, says he would relish the opportunity to experience a Wembley final.
“It is important in my opinion that we try to win this trophy,” he said.
“We won it two years ago, I was not here, but it was a great result and I know it was a very important moment for the club.
“It would mean a lot to the team to win it again and we have a good appetite for winning.”
Ticket details for the quarter final with Barnsley at the Etihad Stadium are now available and despite having home advantage Costel and his teammates will be taking nothing for granted against the Tykes.
“You see a lot of surprise results in this competition and so it is important that we remain focused in every game,” he declared.
“We know this is going to be an important match and we will treat it as if it were a final.”
The 4-0 win over Leeds United in the fourth round saw the Blues play some of their best football so far this season.
Pantilimon believes if the team can maintain a similar momentum, they are still in with a chance of Premier League success.
“It will be very difficult I think for us to win the Premier League, but we will be trying everything to catch Manchester United - that is one of our key objectives,” he said.
“Everybody is saying it’s a 12 point gap, but last year we had an eight point gap in the last six games and we can do the same this year.
“A lot of things can happen, you can see how easily we have let points drop in the league, anything can happen in the last 11 games, it’s possible – in my opinion it’s possible.”
