Manuel Pellegrini has promised more new players will arrive before the new campaign gets underway next month.

The Blues' boss has already brought in two new players and he confirmed that City’s business in the transfer market is far from complete.

“Both Fernandinho and Navas were my choice of players. I talked a lot with Txiki [Begiristain] about them and they are here because I asked,” Pellegrini revealed.

“It is true that we also need a striker. We have two strikers and we need another one, but I don’t want to talk about any names.

“I think we need two players in each position so that we can compete in all competitions. We will try to bring to Manchester City the best players from all parts of the world.”

Speaking at his first press conference as City manager, the former Malaga man also confirmed that he spoke to Carlos Tevez before the Argentine left the club for Juventus.

“I spoke with Carlos and I feel that he did not want to stay here anymore, he was very clear to me. I think it was the best choice both for Carlos and the club,” he said.

“In the next week we will see all the different situations with various players. I will speak with Txiki and I am always speaking with the players to see what they want.”

Pellegrini is well-known for playing an attacking style of football and he revealed it is his intention to adapt a similar style with his new squad.

“The fans will see a different way to how the team has played in other years,” said the Chilean.

“I am sure we are going to play an attractive game. We will always try to play in the opponent’s half and try to be an attractive team like all the other sides I have worked with. That is what I want to try and do with City.”

Although the Chilean admitted he is aware of the need to improve on last year's Champions League campaign, he admitted it is not his only priority this season.

“I think that the Premier League is as important as the Champions League,” he declared. “I will try to improve in the Champions League, but that is not the only aim for this year.

“When City won the Premier League, it was one of the most important days for the club and we will try to repeat this.”

Outlining his reasons for choosing to join the club, the new manager singled out three things – the squad, the management team and last, but by no means least – the fans.

“I think the club has incredible fans. They are always together with the team and that is very important,” he smiled.

“We will try to work hard and do our best for them and see how many trophies we can win.”

New signing Fernandinho sat alongside the manager at the Carrington press conference and admitted he can’t wait to get going.

“I want to repay the club for what they have done for me, by playing and winning as much as possible and helping the club to win trophies,” said the Brazilian.

“In the Ukraine and Brazil, Manchester City is considered one of the best teams in the world. After I signed, the people in Brazil congratulated me for such a great club!”
