City will have two representatives at this summer’s Confederations Cup.

Vincente Del Bosque has called up midfielders Javi Garcia and David Silva to his Spain squad for the tournament that will take place across Brazil in the middle of June.

The World Cup and European Championship holders have been drawn in Group B with Uruguay, Nigeria and Tahiti for the competition which was last won by Brazil in 2009.

70 cap Silva has been a key component in the Spain midfield since World Cup 2010, breaking up the Barcelona midfield domination, while Garcia is a relative newcomer to the international scene, looking to add to his one cap earned in May 2012.

Spain get their tournament tilt under way with a tricky encounter against Uruguay in Recife on 16 June.

Elsewhere, England’s Joe Hart and James Milner were not the only City players in international action this week.

Vincent Kompany captained his Belgium side to an impressive 4-2 win over USA in Cleveland, Ohio on Wednesday night.

Aston Villa’s Christian Benteke continued his fine season with a brace and Everton’s Kevin Mirrallas and Maraoune Fellaini helped themselves to goals on another impressive night for Marc Wilmot’s star-studded team.

Finally, both Samir Nasri and Gael Clichy have pulled out of France’s squad for next week’s friendlies against Uruguay and Brazil.

Nasri had been called up for the first time in over a year by Didier Deschamps but his knee strain has ruled him out of contention this time around, while Clichy’s groin strain sustained in the post-season tour match against Chelsea sees Benoit Tremoulinas called up in his stead.
