Robinho centre of conjecture

Those of you who were wondering just how long it would take for the Blues to be linked with another boat load of improbable transfers can stop exercising the little grey cells right now.

Just five days after the closing of the summer window, the Sunday papers are in full flow pontificating over what may or may not happen in January.

Centre of attention in the News of the World, the Mail on Sunday and the People is our British record signing Robinho who if you believe the first named of those papers is off to Barcelona in a swap for Thierry Henry.

Mind you, if you take the word of the others he will be the subject of a £15million bid that they believe will be rejected!

The Mail on Sunday also touch on the story and describe Robinho as ‘troubled’ even though there is no evidence to suggest he is anything but happy here. In their online version of the paper they also call the 25-year-old a ‘starlet’ which is hardly accurate either.

The Sunday Mirror, meanwhile, has also been polishing its crystal ball and can see Benjani moving to Portsmouth in the New Year.

Over in the Sunday Express they are also looking forward, too, though to something more tangible in the shape of next summer’s World Cup. They report that Gareth Barry is hoping to make himself a ‘kingpin’ in the England engine room.

Hopefully the Daily Telegraph’s graphics department will take note having had Barry still at Villa and not at City in their England line up for Saturday’s friendly!
