No surprises that the papers have picked up on the arrival of Marton Fulop, as featured (of course!) first on this web site, but the possibility that Joe Hart may have returned from loan early is a big talking point.

Talks about getting the highly-rated youngster back from Birmingham got to an advanced stage, with the Mail's Chris Wheeler summing the situation up with:

"It is believed Hart was keen to return to Eastlands and play in three high-profile games as he looks to impress England manager Fabio Capello.

"He will be recalled anyway in the summer, although that decision had been taken before City were left frustrated by complicated negotiations with Birmingham and the Premier League ruling out any move."

Shay's dislocated shoulder will take quite some time to heal, leading to speculation from Ian Herbert in The Independent that Joe may be at the top of City's pecking order when next season rolls around.

"Joe Hart will get the chance to oust Shay Given and make the club's goalkeeper's jersey his own," Herbie writes, "with a run of games in the side at the start of next season as the Irishman recovers from shoulder surgery.

"Roberto Mancini has already made it clear he sees Hart as an integral part of his plans and the departure of Mark Hughes - who brought Given in - may give the 23-year-old belief that he can make a fresh start having become disillusioned by his prospects before leaving for a year's loan at Birmingham last summer."

As for the rest of the City-related chatter, it's a mixed bag. Sven-Goran Eriksson is pictured on a visit to Carrington yesterday in the Mirror, we are linked with a move for James Milner in the Mirror and in The Independent Didier Deschamps laughs off a wild rumour that Marseilles will make a move for Carlos Tevez. "If we sell the Old Port maybe we can buy him!" says Olympique's coach.
