If you have never bought a copy of the The Times, or visited its website, then today is the day to break that habit.
For resplendent across two pages in the paper is a feature written by James Ducker that concentrates on the ethos at City, the back-breaking backstage work that is going into the club and the owner’s long term aspirations for sustained success.
It is a thoughtful piece, marbled with quotes from Garry Cook, which will gladden the heat and quicken the pulse of all Blues fans and puts the investment made by Sheikh Mansour into context.
Elsewhere this morning all the talk is of the last day of the transfer window and more specifically Robinho.
The Times, Star, Telegraph, Sun and Mirror all run pieces linking the British record signing with a move to AC Milan pointing out along the way that there is still an offer on the table for his services from Turkish side Fenerbahce.
The Telegraph also reckons that Felipe Caicdeo’s proposed loan move to West Ham now looks highly unlikely and as a consequence the Ecuadorian striker may face a long wait before he again kicks a ball in anger in the Premier League.
Three of the broadsheets - the Guardian, Times and Independent - are, meanwhile, reporting that Shay Given has been persuaded to stay at City and dispute the number one slot with Joe Hart.
The Mail reckons that Mark Hughes will make a last ditch effort to take Roque Santa Cruz to Fulham whilst other publications are still pontificating on the Paraguayan’s possible move to Lazio. Both would be loan deals say the papers.
Finally, it wouldn’t be transfer deadline day without a journalist linking Spurs with a City player and this time around it is Emmanuel Adebayor.
It is the Mirror’s Darren Lewis who alone reckons that Harry Redknapp is interested in the Togo striker.
‘Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is ready to sanction a loan deal,’ writes Lewis. ‘Adebayor fears that once £26million hitman Mario Balotelli is fit, the Italy forward will play ahead of him at Eastlands.’
All will be clear at 5.01pm!
