Watch your fingers, because the summer transfer window is about to "slam shut"!

It's all about potential outgoings this morning, with the possibility that Shay Given could depart catching the eye.

There's a bit of a jigsaw puzzle here, with Mark Schwarzer's likely move to Arsenal leaving Fulham looking around for a replacement. Of course the Fulham boss knows Shay well, which is where the next part of the puzzle comes in.

The Mail's Joe Bernstein is one of many to give Shay a mention, saying:

"City are reluctantly prepared to let the Republic of Ireland goalkeeper leave before deadline day on Tuesday even though they have made it clear they would like him to stay and provide competition for Joe Hart.

"Given, disappointed to lose the jersey to Hart, has made it clear he wants regular first-team football." Mark Hughes is quoted in his usual measured tones, although the headline refers to Shay's "Manchester City hell"! Not sure it's that bad, but you can't blame Joe for that one.

Robinho has been offered an "escape route" to Barcelona, according to the Times, although this depends on Ibrahimovich going to AC Milan - remember, he was nailed on to come to City a few weeks ago in many parts of the media.

There's an in-depth interview with David Platt in the Telegraph that is well worth a look, with the City coach discussing his nearly 20-year relationship with Roberto Mancini amongst other things.

Of course the game is all about opinions, apparently, and the Mirror's Michael Calvin follows up last Sunday's broadside by managing to get a dig about us into his Chelsea-Stoke match report.

"Manchester City have cornered the market in witless triumphalism and ostentatious spending, while Chelsea have revised their club culture of sullen suspicion and sneering superiority," he says, while in his opinion piece he adds that he is not "flavour of the month" at City. Can't think why......
