Having exhausted the Yaya and Milner storylines yesterday the papers almost inevitably turn to Robinho this morning.
Three of them have a stab at what might happen when the Brazilian’s loan to Santos runs out in the first week of August.
‘Robinho will be told he can leave Manchester City in today’s crunch talks over his future,’ reckons David Anderson in the Mirror.
‘Agent Evandro de Souza and dad Gilvan de Souza are due for talks with City’s hierarchy, who will not stand in the way if the £32.5million striker wants to go.’
Martin Blackburn in the Sun is more guarded in his piece on the same subject laying out the possibilities rather than predicting the outcome.
‘Robinho’s Manchester City future could become clearer today after his representatives have held talks with the club,’ he tells his readers.
‘Eastlands boss Roberto Mancini has made it clear he will welcome back the former Real Madrid man but the ball lies in the Brazilian’s court and if he wants a move City will listen to offers of around £20million.’
The Mail covers the story in its Screamer column.
‘The future of Robinho at Manchester City will be decided this week when his father and agent fly in to meet Roberto Mancini,’ it says. ‘Mancini says he will welcome the £32.5million record signing back to the club when his loan deal ends but the Brazil international is hoping to stay in South America for another year.’
There is confirmation in most of the papers of Martin Petrov signing for Bolton Wanderers whilst the Mail links us with Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani and the Times reckons we’re courting Benfica’s David Luiz.
