Joe Hart steps into the limelight today with a lunchtime TV FA Cup quarter-final against Portsmouth as the nation - and its Press - wonders if he should be our World Cup No.1.
City's young goalkeeper, enjoying a great season's loan with Birmingham, was an unused sub for the midweek win over Egypt, but there are those who believe he will eventually get the jersey.
Birmingham defender Roger Johnson, for one. He tells James Nursey of the Mirror: “I’ve thought all along Joe should play for England and not just because he’s here. I’d admired Joe even before I played at Birmingham with him.
“Take a look at Joe from his performances this season and you’ll see he’s in the top three keepers in the Premier League. He’s earned it and he’s useful.
“Fabio Capello might go with a bit more experience maybe but Joe’s young and he’ll get his chance. Joe will be there and he’ll have a lot of experience from this time around. The next World Cup, he’ll probably be No.1.”
Joe’s opposite number today at Fratton Park, points out the Mirrorman, will be fellow England keeper and former Blues hero David James. Compare and contrast over lunch then, Fabio?
Elsewhere, Stevie Ireland is selling his personalised Audi R8, a snip at just shy of £70,000 reports the Daily Star. Maybe he's thinking of investing in another fish tank ...
And Carlos Tevez is The Sun's hero of the week: "Carlos Tevez proved to be the catalyst for Man City with two goals in their 4-2 win at Chelsea seven days ago. Has bagged 16 goals in his last 15 City games." Glad somebody can keep count.
