Match Day One in the Europa League and the papers are very quiet on the City front.

As reported on mcfc.co.uk last night all the reporters pick up on the fact that the Blues have travelled to Austria with only two fit strikers.

Martin Blackburn in the Sun highlights Roberto Mancini’s promise to give David Silva a start against Salzburg, a line that is also featured in the Mail, the Mirror and the Daily Telegraph.

The Independent, using copy from the Press Association’s Simon Stone, plays down Italian reports that Mario Balotelli might be injured worse than was first feared. Brian Kidd, talking in Salzburg, denied those rumours.

As we told fans last night, the young striker is expected back in the first team by the end of October.

Finally we are indebted to the Wall Street Journal (Europe) that informs its readers that City are the 6-1 favourites for the Europa League and to the Daily Star who show a picture of Carlos Tevez new haircut which isn’t that new anymore!
