With yesterday’s papers reporting that Roberto Mancini has given up the chase to sign Arsenal’s Robin van Persie, all eyes turn this morning to another alleged target – Liverpool’s Daniel Agger.
According to the Mirror the Merseyside club are willing to sell the Denmark defender to City, but it will cost them, £20 million to be exact!
The paper suggests the Blues have offered about half of the above price for the 27-year-old who was very impressive during this summer’s Euro 2012 tournament.
Perhaps the purse strings will have to be loosened if the deal is to go ahead and as always, we will be first to let you know.
Elsewhere on this quiet morning for Blues news, website punching.com claims City have demanded 31.5 million euros for striker Edin Dzeko.
It was rumoured that AC Milan were keen to adopt the Bosnian on a season-long loan, but that the approach was rejected by the club.
The website claims the manager is keen to sell the 26-year-old, who scored a brace against Limerick in Ireland on Monday, in order to raise funds for new signings.
Finally, Sky Sports News reports that police in Ireland have launched an investigation after claims by Gael Clichy that a banana was thrown on to the pitch during City’s friendly against Limerick at Thomond Park.
It's believed CCTV footage is being reviewed after the defender made the allegation via Twitter.
A statement released on behalf of Limerick FC and Thomond Park said:
"The Gardai and stadium officials are reviewing the CCTV recordings to attempt to identify any individual involved in the throwing of an offensive object onto the playing field.”
