He's back then. The snappers inevitably staked out Manchester Airport to make sure the world and his dog were aware that Carlos Tevez was back in the city and on his way to City.

The Mail's back-page pic of Carlos and daughter surrounded by protective cops gives a flavour of the occasion, while online they run more Carlos shots than you can shake a golf club at.

Ian Ladyman notes: "Tevez was given a police escort when he flew into Manchester after more than three months ... in Argentina, then went to City’s training ground for medical tests."

The Independent also records the welcome return of Kolo and Yaya Toure: "The Tourés lost in the final of the Africa Cup of Nations, and are flying back from Ivory Coast to Portugal today.

"Tevez flew from Buenos Aires to Manchester via Paris and arrived at City's Carrington training ground, for the first time since 7 November."

Yes, there is a match this week as well: "It is not certain that Tevez will meet (manager) Roberto Mancini today. City train in the morning before flying to Portugal in the afternoon. Tomorrow evening they play Porto in the last 32 of the Europa League."

Meanwhile, insidefutbol.com reckons that winger Vladi Weiss is attracting attention from Serie A duo Bologna and Cagliari with his exploits in La Liga on loan at Espanyol.
