Kompany comeback OK by Richards

Vincent Kompany is available for City once again and Micah Richards has been telling the world how good that will be for all concerned.

Micah has worn the captain's armband with aplomb during the skipper's enforced absence but will happy hang it on Vincent's peg in the Goodison Park away dressing room on Tuesday night.

He crops up in a few different places, but we'll plump for The World Game's version, where it is revealed that Vincent has continued to be a real leader despite not being allowed on the field of play.

"He has been an unbelievable miss. He is our captain and he and Joleon (Lescott) have been our best central defensive partnership this season.

"He has played well in the big games and is a leader so it will be amazing to have him back and we can't wait to play with him again.

"He has still been coming in the changing room before games and saying how he feels we can improve, and what he would do if he was on the pitch, so he has still been an influence.

"But it's not nice for anyone. All the players and staff wanted him to play and he was kicking himself because it was another harsh decision to give him the ban."

Carlos Tevez is never too far away from the headlines, and you can read a round-up of this morning's transfer talk regarding him elsewhere on our site, but he is still provoking opinion a-plenty.

The Mail's Martin Samuel has been one of the more balanced columnists when it comes to City over recent years, but he pulls no punches over the Argentinean striker, saying amongst other things:

"Everyone who cares for football recognises City are making an important stand. There have been too many excuses advanced for Tevez, too many indulgences and too many contradictions. He has exhausted the patience of his employers, and the understanding of fans, even those with no allegiance to City."
