With just over 24 hours to go until the FA Cup semi-final showdown at Wembley, there’s plenty of Blues news to bring you this morning.
We’ll begin with a piece in the The Independent which claims that another Wembley win would provide the perfect launch pad for next season.
“City are looking to where their caravan will move next,” writes Ian Herbert.
“They could have badly done with the revenues of reaching the Champions League knockout stage – the pre-season goal that Mancini could not deliver.
“The significance of Wembley was written across his [Mancini’s] face.”
Meanwhile, website livesoccertv.com have taken an in-depth look at both teams credentials and have attempted to conclude which is more likely to progress in the competition.
Their findings, which make for some interesting reading, can be found here: http://www.livesoccertv.com/news/7214/chelsea-vs-manchester-city-fa-cup-semi-final-which-team-has-an-edge-over-the-other/
Moving on to transfer news and a number of media outlets have linked Micah Richards with a move to Merseyside.
“Brendan Rodgers is keen on a summer move for Manchester City defender Micah Richards,” claims The Mirror.
“Liverpool have made an enquiry and are among a clutch of clubs who are interested in signing 24-year-old Richards.
“Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain are also watching developments closely while Real Madrid and Juventus have checked on his availability.
“Richards has struggled with injury this season but City are reluctant to let him go and are likely to slap a £15m price tag on him to try and stop him leaving the Blues this summer.”
Finally for now, Maicon’s father has rubbished any rumours that the right back will return to his native land in the near future.
“The Brazilian has been linked with a summer return to his homeland amid speculation City are planning a clear-out at the end of the season,” claims football356.com.
“Maicon has made just 11 appearances for City this term, with injuries hindering his debut campaign at the club after joining from Inter Milan last August.
“His father, Manoel Sisenando, says he is not aware of any interest from Mineiro and says 31-year-old Maicon, who is contracted at City until 2015, remains happy in Manchester.”
