On Day 16 of the transfer window, the Daily Express links City to Liverpool’s Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez.
You may remember that the Blues were linked with the Premier League’s second top-scorer in November when there was found to be no truth in the rumours but Express journalist Charles Perrin writes that a move for the striker could be on the cards after all.
“Despite his drive on the field, Suarez is believed to be eager for a new challenge and to play for a team challenge for silverware,” Perrin reports.
“He desperately wants to test himself in the Champions League, which Liverpool may not be able to offer him.
“Manchester City look set to reignite their interest in him and Liverpool’s owners FSG (Fenway Sports Group) fear he could leave the club in the summer if they don’t qualify for Europe.”
Elsewhere, Kolo Toure has been speaking to the Ivorian FA media about the mood in the camp ahead of the Ivory Coast’s African Cup of Nations quest.
“Although we beat Egypt 4-2 I think we still have some serious problems, especially in the defence,” Kolo said.
“We have to correct our lapses and play very deep right from the defence to stop the opposition from getting too close.
"We also need to correct conceding dangerous corner-kicks and throw-ins and then engage the midfield to play high and hard and form the first defensive line.
“In official competitions there are mistakes you don’t make or you pay for it dearly. I’m not too satisfied with our showing but since we have more time to fine tune, I hope we’ll be able to correct that.”
Finally, St Etienne striker Pierre Emerick Aubmeyang has told French publication L’Equipe he’s not going anywhere until the summer – despite suggestions of a move to the Premier League champions.
"I say it again, I am not thinking about leaving," Aubameyang told L'Equipe.
"I have a lot of interest, but the best solution is to stay at St Etienne and leave in the summer.
"It is very clear in my mind that these will be my last six months with St Etienne. Then, I don't know.
"It is nice to already have offers from England and I hope to leave for a club that will allow me to keep improving. There could be a surprise, but I am not planning on staying in France."
