Reported City target Bernat is slapped with a €20m price-tag as the race hots up for his signature in today’s media round-up.
The latest in the long production line of talented Spanish playmakers is seen as one of the most exciting and available transfer prospects in La Liga – but he won’t come cheap.
“Real Betis manager Pepe Mel has warned Manchester City and Chelsea that transfer target Benat Etxebarria will not be sold for less than €20million,” writes Daniel Storey of Sky Sports.
“Extebarria's contract expires in 18 months, a fact that has reportedly led the Premier League clubs to prepare a cut-price offer for Betis.”
"Benat's clause is 20m Euros and he will only leave for 20 million,” said Mel.
"To sell him for anything less would be a disaster. The club must defend its position and Benat knows that. To be able to go the market and find a replacement, the only number is €20million.”
Elsewhere, Borussia Dortmund have ruled out a January transfer for defender Mats Hummels who has recently been linked with a move to the Etihad Stadium.
“Borussia Dortmund chief executive Aki Watzke has rubbished recent reports linking Mats Hummels with a January move to Manchester City,” the story on ESPN.co.uk reads.
“The most recent rumour linked Germany centre back Mats Hummels, 24, with a move to Premier League champions City. But, speaking to the press on Thursday, Watzke labelled the speculation as "pure nonsense".
“QPR have made an £8million move for Manchester City centre-back Joleon Lescott,” the paper reports.
“But Lescott is stalling as the 31-year-old England star is keen on a switch back to former club Everton.
If Lescott goes to Goodison Park then Hoops boss Harry Redknapp will target Everton’s Sylvain Distin.”
