Silva hoping team-mate will join Blues

Is it the calm before the storm or just a quiet day for speculation related to City?

Either was there is little of real interest in today’s Press round-up, but we’ll soldier on regardless!

With speculation mounting the Blues are close to the capture of Spain winger Jesus Navas, Goal.com quote David Silva who is hoping his international team-mate joins him at the Etihad this summer.

“Speaking at Spain's pre-tournament camp in Miami, Silva believes the winger is ready to adapt to life in the Premier League,” writes Luke Connolly.

‘Navas is at a mature age now and I would be very happy to have him as a team-mate,’ the midfielder told reporters.

“The former Valencia man also says he is sure that his international team-mate, Navas, will be a hit at City and is excited by the possibility of playing alongside him next season adding: ‘He [Navas] is a great player and he would be very good for us," Silva continued.

Sportsmole.co.uk (via the Northern Echo) concentrate on a possible departure from the Blues in the shape of John Guidetti possibly leaving on a season-long loan.

John Guidetti

The young Swede battled back from a debilitating virus last season and will hope to be back firing on all cylinders for the 2013/14 campaign.

“Sunderland are interested in securing the loan signing of Manchester City forward John Guidetti, according to reports,” writes Darren Plant.

“Black Cats boss Paolo Di Canio is keen to strengthen in the striker department after only Steven Fletcher impressed in attack last season.

“According to the Northern Echo, the Italian wants to bring in City striker Guidetti, who has failed to break into the first team at the Etihad Stadium.

“The 21-year-old has failed to score for the Manchester club, but he did net 20 goals in 23 games during a loan spell with Feyenoord during the 2011/12 season.”

No doubt there will be plenty of interest in Guidetti should he be made available for loan next season. As with every other speculative story, you will only hear if deals have been concluded on mcfc.co.uk first.
