Mail: Kompany set to miss derby?

City’s defensive injury jinx deepened this week when new signing Martin Demichelis was ruled out for several weeks.

The Daily Mail are now suggesting the Blues are on the verge of a defensive crisis in their story this morning concerning Vincent Kompany.

Paul Collins believes the skipper is still a few weeks away from returning and indicates he will miss the Manchester derby.

He writes: “Kompany is a doubt for the Manchester derby later this month after reports suggesting he could be out until October with a groin injury.

“The Manchester City captain hobbled off during their first match of the season against Newcastle at the Etihad Stadium.

“Kompany initially hoped to be back in time for the clash against United on September 22, but City manager Manuel Pellegrini is now left with a potential crisis.”

We will bring you the official line on the progress of all our injured stars next week.

Not much else around this morning other than an entertaining Micah Richards Q&A in the Daily Telegraph.

Micah.Richards1

Answering 20 questions set by Jim White, Micah is, as always, good value and here is just a taste of what’s on offer:

Who is the keenest in training?

James Milner. One week in training he ran 50km. It’s insane — he is the fittest man I have ever seen. We wear monitors in training every day so we know exactly who is running how far and who has done what. They have everything on system so you can’t lie."

Who is the funniest?

Aleksandar Kolarov is pretty funny. When we did the Harlem Shake at City everyone was trying to keep their serious face. He is one of the funniest at the club.”

Most embarrassing moment in career?

“I tried to clear the ball in the Champions League last year, kicked it really hard and it smashed me right in the face. I got a lot of abuse about that. Off the pitch, everyone says I and Mario Balotelli look alike, but I don’t think so. A fan was waiting for a long time after a game for me. When I came out it turned out he was waiting as he thought I was Mario. He was pretty disappointed!”
