Transfer Window: Day 5

There are only a few morsels of City-related transfer speculation to keep you entertained this morning.
Edin Dzeko remains a popular chap in the media, and the striker is certainly racking up the column inches so far this month.
Yesterday we brought you news that AC Milan are apparently interested in signing the Bosnian Diamond, today it’s London Calling.
The report reads: “Though Jose Mourinho has set his sights on more high profile potential additions his efforts to bring in the likes of Radamel Falcao, Robert Lewandowski and Diego Costa have all thus far failed to bear fruit and now the Stamford Bridge boss is ready to turn to the Etihad Stadium forward.
“Chelsea see the 27 year old as a ‘cheaper option’ and is perhaps a short term stop gap to help rectify the fact that the Blues have no prolific forward to turn to in their current squad.”
The Stamford Bridge outfit could have quite the fight on their hands to land him though – at least if all the recent rumours can be believed!
Another one in this morning’s round-up comes from the Sun, who claim that Arsenal are also keen on luring Edin to London, although they’re willing to wait until the summer. Which, given that the south has actually had much worse weather than our fair Manchester in the last week, might be a shrewd move…..
The paper’s Charlie Wyett claims: “Nicklas Bendtner will be sidelined for two months — forcing Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger to sign a striker.
“But Wenger is unlikely to spend big money as Manchester City’s Edin Dzeko is his £20million No 1 summer target.”
Sticking with Arsenal, Caught Offside reckons they have another City man in their sights, and are intending to make a January swoop for Micah Richards.
Ron Carne writes: “Richards has asked his agent to get him a move away from Eastlands this month, with the Englishman still harbouring dreams of being part of Three Lions head coach Roy Hodgson’s 23-man squad for next summer’s World Cup finals in Brazil, but only if he can get regular game time though between now and the end of the season.”
It’s probably worth taking this particular report with a pinch of salt – it notes that Micah hasn’t been starting recently despite a catalogue of defensive injuries, but doesn’t take into account the fact that Richards has been injured himself!
Remember, if any moves are confirmed we’ll be first with the news right here on mcfc.co.uk!
