Reports emerging this morning suggest that City striker John Guidetti could be set for a loan spell at Aston Villa in the New Year.

The 20-year-old, who recently signed a new three year deal with the Blues, is apparently wanted by Paul Lambert who is on the lookout for attacking reinforcements.

“Guidetti signed a long-term contract at the Etihad Stadium in October and will be fully fit in the New Year after recovering from a virus that left him with paralysis in his right leg,” reports The Telegraph’s John Percy.

“The 20 year-old is highly regarded by Roberto Mancini but is still waiting to make his first Premier League appearance for the champions.

“Lambert had Guidetti scouted extensively during his loan spell at Feyenoord last season, where the youngster scored 20 goals in 23 appearances for the Dutch club.

“And he will attempt to persuade Mancini that moving to Villa for four months will help Guidetti's progression as he bids to become a regular at Manchester City, though Sunderland and Galatasaray are also interested.”

Of course, we will be first to let you know about any activity in the transfer window early next year.

Meanwhile, according to tribalfootball.com, City are chasing the signature of Columbian defender Pedro Franco.

The 21-year-old, who currently plys his trade at Millionarios, can also play in centre midfield.

“Franco has been watched extensively by City scouts this season,” the website reports.

TMW says City have held several rounds of talks with his entourage and are now considering pulling the trigger on a deal for the defender.

“Franco has been likened to PSG star Thiago Silva.”

Finally, as we count down to the end of 2012, it is time to reflect on what has been a truly momentous year for the Blues.
