City on Buckley:
After joining the City Academy as a 13-year-old, striker Isaac Buckley impressed through the age groups and was offered a two year scholarship at the club in July 2014.
An excellent season for City u16s was rewarded with an u18s debut in May against Newcastle while still a schoolboy, when he acquitted himself well against more mature opposition as part of a team that lifted the Premier League North Division title.
He continued where he left off during his first season as a scholar, appearing in every single u18 league match, scoring eight goals.
Part of a competitive FA Youth Cup squad, Isaac scored twice during the run to the final, including one against Chelsea in the final itself, and made his EDS debut before turning 17.
With a strength that belies his slight frame, the forward can hold the ball up well and his pace makes him a valuable asset to the u18s.
He has also proved an eye for goal in whatever position he plays – Isaac made his debut in a City shirt at right back against Sunderland, when he scored his first goal for the club.
A local lad who grew up just miles from Platt Lane, Isaac is now one of the senior members of the u18s and was handed the skipper’s armband for the pre-season fixtures.
