City on Lea:

Mancunian defender, Danielle Lea, rejoined City in 2012 after a season-long spell with Liverpool Ladies.

Lea started her senior career with the Blues and went on to play a key role in the Championship-winning side of 2011-12. Such form sparked the Reds’ interest and they captured her signature.

The youngster enjoyed a successful year with Liverpool but opted to return to City in the winter of 2012.

She brings with her domestic and international experience, having made her international bow when she represented the England women’s side at under-19 level. She played all three games for her country in their friendly tournament at La Manga.

A capable defender with the ability to take the ball forward, Lea will certainly be an asset to Nick Cushing’s team.

When asked of her personal hopes for the season, she stated that she wants to win the league. It will be a tough task for the Blues to complete at the first attempt but with plenty of desire and ambition, Lea is relishing the challenge.
