Pride in our Past
Investment in youth is the key to Manchester City’s long-term future as a club.
Our existing Academy at Platt Lane was set up in 1998 to provide a strong and effective programme for the recruitment and development of young footballers within Manchester City Football Club.
Since then, 35 young players have emerged from the Academy to play first-team football for Manchester City, an unprecedented achievement in the modern era.
The Academy at Platt Lane is reaching the limits of its potential due to the physical constraints of the site. As the Club moves forward, a new facility is needed – one that not only meets the standards set by the Premier League’s new strategy for youth development, but exceeds them.
