Angus Gunn
Goalkeeper
Date of birth
22 January 1996
Place of birth
Bolton, England
Joined City
July 2011
Son of Norwich City institution Bryan Gunn, Angus didn’t have to look far for inspiration for a career between the posts. Sharp reflexes and strong wrists are just two of the characteristics that attracted England u16s coach Kenny Swain to Gunn for their Victory Shield campaign last season.
His ambitious streak was highlighted when shortly after signing his first-year scholarship with City he was already targeting a regular place in the Elite Development Squad for the Next Gen Series. He got a taste of the competition last season when he deputised for Eirik Johanesen in City’s match away at Marseille.
After following in his father’s footsteps with a spell at Norwich City’s Academy, Angus joined City in 2011 and marked himself out as a hot prospect for the future, playing up an age-group and producing a string of solid performances for the under 18s.
